Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today confirmed receipt of a letter from Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh where the PM has assured that the union home ministry is to address the issues raised by some of the states.

The Prime Minister's letter dated 21 February 2012 mentions that, 'I have, however, noted your concerns about the manner in which the NCTC will function and asking the Home Minister to address them suitably, in consultation with you and other Chief Ministers'.

This particular communication from the Prime Minister must have worked as a reason of relief for about a dozen Chief Ministers who strongly condemned the institution of NCTC and vesting powers into it without consulting the States. After receiving the letter from the PM, Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik says, he is now waiting for the next step of the UPA government at the centre about NCTC.
