Twenty workers injured as Silo of IFFCO Plant collapsed in Odisha's Paradeep

At least twenty workers sustained injuries as the roof of the DAP fertiliser plant SILO of IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited) plant collapsed this afternoon at Odisha’s Paradip, 110 KMs from Bhubaneswar.

Soon after the collapse, some workers and rescue teams rescued the injured persons who were then sent to the local Medical. Four persons surviving critical injuries have been shifted to Medical and private nursing homes in Odisha's Cuttack city.

Fire brigade, ambulance and emergency service personnel from IFFCO, Paradip Port Trust and personnel from the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) were pressed into the service and rescue operation.

With the collapse, safety inside the plant has become an issue for the workers. However, assuring that the company will investigate to know the reasons of collapse the executive director of the fertiliser unit M. R. Patel said that rescue and treatment of the injured workers are the priority for the company.
